COIN78 - XML Grading

Homework Assignments should be submitted on or before the due date and certainly before the final date of acceptance. If directions are not clear to you, please please email me, and be as specific as possible in the subject line. I recommend reading the online lecture notes and demos before doing any associated homework. I don't want you to be frustrated if you have any confusion about directions. Each course subject and lesson will have specific criteria in the assignment requirements for that course and project.

Assignments

Assignments are graded on how well they meet and exceed criteria and requirements and illustrate understanding of concepts used to create the desired effect. The following items are used in evaluatingassignments:

Attendance

Additional Factors the Effect Grades

Student showed exceptional classroom participation in one or more of the following:

You are registered for a letter grade unless you fill out a Pass/No Pass option card with the Registrar by the required date. A grade of A, B, or C receives a Pass. If you receive a D or F, you will receive a No Pass.

To take the class Pass/No Pass, fax your request to the admissions and records office. Fax: 650-949-7048. There is currently no way to request Pass/NoPass online. Check the Academic calendar for the dates in which this has to be done. The basic guideline is: Fall/Winter/Spring - Friday of the fourth week of instruction and Summer - Friday of the second week of instruction. Regardless of status, students are expected to complete all work, and maintain regular attendance (participation in the class discussions, lessons, etc.) or they will be dropped or assigned a "W".

There will be no incomplete grades given except for medical emergencies, and you must meet the legal requirment of having turned in 80% of your work. It is the responsibility of each student to monitor the academic calendar.

Back up all your work at every stage of development and keep copies of all homework assignments and projects that you submit to us. Excuses of lost work, crashed systems, disk errors, etc. are not acceptable reasons for not turning in assignments on time.

Late homework and lack of attendance or participation may result in a 'redo' for not following instructions. Students who don't attend the final session of in-class or online courses may receive a penalty in the form of a grade loss.

Final Grades are based on Assignments, Attendance, Collaboration, Final Projects, and a Positive Attitude.
