Want to backpack but don't know where to begin? Haven't backpacked in a years and want to get back into it? I'm offering Backpacking 101 through Outdoor Adventures for Women. You don't have to be going on the backpacking trip to register for the clinic. (In fact there are currently more spaces in the clinic than on the trip, so don't hesitate to sign up.) Monday June 1,8 and Thursday, July 12 in conjunction with July Big Basin Backpack The first session will be Monday June 18th and the second will be right before the trip, on Thursday, July 12th. The clinic will include a general introduction to backpacking (What should I take? How do I select a campsite? How do I protect my food from critters?) as well as a hands-on segment (fitting and packing backpacks, gear selection, water filtration, stove operation), and ample time for Q&A. Even if you can't make the Big Basin trip, you're welcome to attend this informative, supportive and fun event! Limited to 8 women. The loop is rated moderate to difficult, but we'll take it at a very leisurely pace stopping for lunch midway. Bring a packed lunch (or buy a sandwich at the cafe), water, sunscreen...
