
There are a total of 12 assignments / labs for this course, worth 25 points, and the sixth worth 50 points.
These assignments are due roughly every other week, and are designed so that I can continually assess your progress, and keep you on track to complete all the assignments during this very short 12 week quarter.
Assignments
Each of the assignments below is worth 25 points, contributing a total of 125 points towards your final grade. (The final writing assignment is worth 25 points). There are two 10 point extra credit assignments that are also available.
Assignment One - Post your introduction in ETUDES, including your background and goals for this course .
Assignment Two - Answers to three questions, what is Internet marketing, why Internet marketing, and describe a brief history of Internet marketing.
Assignment Three - Scavenge hunt of marketing in your world. List ten differnet marketing channels where you received information about a product, and especially those that have connections to a Web pressence. There will be a rubric for describing the company, channel, message, target audience, and effectiveness.
Assignment Four - Scavenge hunt for Internet marketing, accross ten different channels, including direct email, database marketing, listservs, webinars, websites, ad words, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), banner / badge / Flash video marketing, RSS, and text / mobile messaging.
Assignment Five - Developing a website and marketing strategy, including both qualitative and quantitative goals.
Assignment Six - Analysis of a website following a straightforward set of rubrics, including navigational analysis.
Assignment Seven - Steps to launch a marketing campaign, focusing on adwords, SEO, and email marketing.
Assignment Eight - Steps to manage a marketing campaign, including adapting to changes in effectiveness and cost.
Assignment Nine - Analysis of website analytics, understanding page views, search strings, and traffic.
Assignment Ten - Setting yourself up as a Google web master, creating an XML sitemap, and indexing.
Assignment Eleven - . This is a formal plan about how you will accomplish the goals of your business plan. As an alternative assignment, you may develop a strategy for using RSS feeds.
Assignment Twelve - you will submit a portfolio of your previous assignments, integrating business and marketing plans, in an extended writing assignment that shows me what you have learned in this class.
Submit all your assignments to ETUDES - please do not email me assignments as text or attachments unless I specifically ask you to. I cannot manually enter a score for an assignment unless you submit it in ETUDES.
